WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin has called on Persimmon Homes to keep to their pledge to finish the roads and pavements in and around the new Malvern Vale housing estate.
The developer committed to finish the roads by the end of last year, but it has missed that deadline and Harriett has written to Persimmon’s managing director Andrew Peters asking for an explanation.
The work was due to be complete last year to allow Worcestershire County Council to formally ‘adopt’ the roads and take over their management.
The county council has briefed Harriett that there is a dispute over the drains and the work will not be completed until this is resolved.
Harriett has also written to Severn Trent to find out more details on the issue and what can be done to fix the issue.
Meanwhile, residents have to contend with dangerous pavements and road surfaces which can cause damage to cars and pedestrians.
Local people fear that the temporary surfaces could rapidly deteriorate if there is a sudden cold snap or heavy rainfall.
Harriett commented: “It is clearly disappointing that the roads in Malvern Vale have not been completed and Persimmon Homes have not been able to keep their promise.
"I have been briefed by the county council that there is a problem formally getting the roads adopted and handed over and I hope this issue will be resolved as quickly as possible
“I will be writing to the company again and to Severn Trent to find out what has caused this delay and I hope that residents will have an update soon.”
