A BROADBAND PROVIDER has been told by the communications regulator Ofcom not to ignore complaints made by local people.
It comes after West Worcestershire MP Dame Harriett Baldwin wrote to the regulator about Airband’s handling of a complaint by the Little Comberton Parish Council.
Ofcom said it would ‘remind’ Airband of its obligations to respond to local concerns over infrastructure and handle them professionally.
The Parish Council had criticised Airband for failing to remove broadband poles after they spoiled residents’ countryside views.
Dame Harriett said: “After repeat unsuccessful efforts to get Airband to engage with the Parish Council, I am glad that Ofcom has stepped in.
“This is sadly not the first time I have heard of poor communication from providers who carry out work. Local people care about our area and have a right to raise concerns about infrastructure.
“The regulator said it would write to Airband and I hope that we see a change in attitude from the company towards communities who present concerns.”
