WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Dame Harriett Baldwin has called for an action plan to help to protect a community which is blighted by regular road closures.
Bransford is regularly flooded by the river Teme causing major diversions for people living in the area as the fast-moving river closes the busy A4103 road linking Worcester and Malvern.
The MP wrote to the Environment Agency after local people raised their concerns about the absence of a plan to mitigate this regular road closure.
The Environment Agency confirmed that there was no plan but it will now work with Worcestershire County Council to assess the issue.
Dame Harriett said: “Bransford suffers from major flooding almost every year when the river Teme rises – causing regular road closures and forcing local people onto significant road diversions.
“I’ve written to the Environment Agency to ask them to look into this matter and I hope that local managers will work with the county council to start looking at potential long-term solutions.”
