WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed news that the Government plans to get every home connected to superfast broadband by the end of the decade.
Digital Economy Minister Ed Vaizey yesterday announced that the Government will meet the target of connecting nine out of ten properties to superfast fibre connections by the end of this year. He also announced that the Government aims for 100 per cent connectivity by the end of this Parliament.
Harriett has consistently lobbied at a national and local level to ensure that rural communities don’t get left behind will this week meet with Worcestershire County Council to discuss its plans to reach 100 per cent coverage.
Harriett commented: “The Government has allocated billions of pounds of investment to make sure that nine out of ten homes are connected to superfast broadband cabinets by the end of this year and the Superfast Worcestershire team is to be congratulated for the work completed locally so far.
“However, there are still rural areas that suffer from poor or non-existent broadband connectivity and I will be working with the local team to identify these areas and put plans in place to ensure we deliver on the new ambition.”
