WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin last week joined villagers in Suckley to unveil a newly-created war memorial on Armed Forces Day.

Harriett was joined by local councillors and families of those who lost their lives in both World Wars as well as paying tribute to those who today serve at home and abroad.

Walter Huband (crct), who has served as chairman of Suckley parish council for more than 50 years, unveiled a specially engraved stone, sourced in Malvern.

A commemoration service was led by Suckley’s vicar, the Reverend Anne Potter, and wreathes and poppies were laid by local councillors, family members and pupils from Suckley Primary School.

Harriett said: “The new memorial is a solemn tribute to the men who gave their lives in the two World Wars. It was particularly fitting to take part in such a moving ceremony on Armed Forces Day.

“We must never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our way of life and we honour those who serve to uphold that tradition at home and abroad.”
