A FAST GROWING technology company gave West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin a display of its successful products during a visit to their Malvern HQ.
Display Data, based at the Malvern Hills Science Park, manufactures LCD ‘electronic labels’ which can be used to display information in supermarkets, shops, hotels and even offices. Liquid Crystal Displays were invented in Malvern.
The displays can be used to show product prices on supermarket shelves and can be linked over wi-fi to a central computer to allow companies to change prices, or offer deals, at the click of a mouse.
The technology is currently used in supermarkets all over the world and is currently being trial by two major UK retailers.
The company employs 18 staff in its Malvern office as well as running a satellite office in Bracknell.
Harriett commented: “Display Data is a shining example of how great ideas emerge and evolve in Malvern to become world-beating products.
It is yet another example of how the brilliant brains of Malvern are making an impact well beyond the UK.
“The company is growing rapidly abroad and is selling their technology to UK-based retailers.
“I have offered the company my help to try and offer apprenticeships in the near future and offer opportunities to local young people.
“Some of our brightest brains in Malvern are now becoming talented entrepreneurs and I am proud that so many great local companies are taking advantage of the Government’s long-term economic plan to grow their businesses and thrive.”
