MP Praises Schools’ Progress

WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed further local progress in education as more children are educated in good and outstanding schools.

Last week, Dyson Perrins CE Academy in Malvern was given a 'good' rating by OFSTED inspectors marking a significant improvement since its last report in 2013.

Harriett recently met with staff, governors and pupils when she attended the school's prize-giving and she was able to see at first hand the achievements of the school, including the work of headteacher Stuart Wetson who is leading the school's turnaround.

Harriett commented: "Children deserve the very best start in life through their education. They only get one chance.  Across the UK, one million more children are being educated in schools that are rated good or outstanding, and this is essential for the UK’s continues prosperity.  Worcestershire is no exception.

"As our local schools improve, they attract more families to the area and we need to plan for school growth as well as housing growth.  Many schools in West Worcestershire, from Tenbury, through Malvern to Pershore have had new classroom blocks built.

"At the primary school level, there has been a consultation for Malvern schools and plans are underway to increase capital investment in local primary schools to allow for pupil growth.

"I urge the County Council to make a long-term plan to make sure we have a range of good and outstanding schools for our children in the years to come."
