FAMILIES WHICH ARE out and about this summer have been encouraged to visit local minor injuries units to deal with minor bumps and scrapes.
Malvern and Tenbury Community Hospitals can readily treat cuts, grazes, wounds, strains, sprains as well as burns and eye injuries. Malvern’s Minor Injuries Unit is open 9AM-9PM on weekdays, and Tenbury’s is open 9AM-5PM daily.
West Worcestershire MP Dame Harriett Baldwin has reminded families that they may be seen quicker and ease backlogs at emergency departments by heading to minor injuries units for non-urgent medical care.
The call comes as Tenbury Community Hospital announces it has recruited several new staff in the last year to improve its service for patients.
Dame Harriett said: “Over the summer holidays a lot of us have been enjoying time outside taking part in all kinds of adventures and activities. Inevitably this sometimes means a bump or fall and a trip to hospital.
“Our local community hospitals work hard to look after us and I was proud to successfully campaign for Malvern’s amazing new hospital and celebrated its construction and opening shortly after I was elected.
“I regularly hear positive feedback from patients who visit the minor injuries units and Tenbury Community Hospital has just hired more staff.
“I encourage everyone to first consider visiting a minor injuries unit before travelling to an emergency department where you might face a significant wait whilst staff prioritise very sick patients.”
