WORCESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL has launched two websites to deliver the news that two major road closures have no end in sight.
The A449 at British Camp has been closed for a year and the B4204 at Rochford since the spring as the local authority fails to deal with landslips at the two sites.
West Worcestershire MP Dame Harriett Baldwin has repeatedly urged the Highways Department to complete the works that are disrupting residents and businesses both sides of the Malvern Hills and in the Teme Valley.
The County Council wrote to the MP explaining it needs to investigate the landslips before the roads can be repaired and that it was posting updates at https://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/britishcamp and https://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/rochford.
Dame Harriett said: “For months, the road closures at major routes through British Camp and Rochford continue to blight drivers with disrupted journeys and lengthy diversions via minor country lanes. There is still no official estimate for when the closures may end.
“My postbag is full of messages from local people frustrated by the inaction and poor communication over the delays.
“Despite my pleas to conclude the endless technical surveys and get on with the physical works, the Council’s latest action has been to publish two websites where residents can follow the lack of progress.
“Worcestershire’s Highways Department used to perform well, but under the current management these closures look like running on and on. I will continue fighting on behalf of local people for an accelerated solution.
