Parents Urged to Comment on Pershore High’s Expansion Plan

WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin has urged parents to respond to a consultation on expansion plans for Pershore High School.

Last month, school governors at the high school announced their decision to seek local opinion on the proposal to enlarge the school intake and take Year 7 pupils from September 2016.

Under the draft local plan, the town of Pershore is expected to expand by almost a third and the school-age population is expected to increase over the coming years.

Harriett commented: “Pershore High School is now a stand-alone academy and it is entirely up to the school governors to discuss this issue and go out to consultation.

“I know that local parents and prospective parents will want to study this document fully and have their say.  Pershore High School is a good school with outstanding features and we all share the aspiration that parents and children are able to choose a good or outstanding school.

"Many parents locally also really value and prefer our good local Middle School system for their children.

“As more new houses are built in Pershore I would expect that demand for places at local schools will get higher so I have asked the county council to look into this issue and advise me on what impact these proposals may have on local first, primary and middle schools.”
