WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed the opening of Worcestershire’s new oncology unit which will save patients a million miles of extra journeys each year.
And the MP was asked to plant an historic Worcestershire Black Pear tree at the new memorial garden outside the new unit to help to mark the opening of the radiotherapy unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
Harriett has lobbied for many years to secure funding for the new unit which will save local cancer patients long daily journeys to Cheltenham or Wolverhampton for a stressful treatment.
Harriett commented: “The opening of the new oncology unit is a huge step forward for delivering first-class cancer treatment locally.
“This will make a big difference to local people who will now be saved the trauma of having to make long daily journeys to undergo difficult treatments.
“The NHS does an amazing job to help people at their time of need and I am pleased to help celebrate this further improvement to the Worcestershire NHS.”
