WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed efforts to publish the plans to upgrade broadband cabinets onto the superfast broadband fibre network.
Worcestershire County Council has published more detail on the programme to upgrade rural cabinets including a phone-line checker allowing people to find out when their home or business will be able to connect.
Harriett has called for a full publication of the roll out plans and welcomed the latest efforts to bring better transparency to the process. The programme is benefitting from £13 million of taxpayers money to enhance the county’s broadband connectivity.
Harriett commented: “I am pleased that the broadband roll-out team has listened to my calls for clearer information on the process, particularly to ensure that rural communities are told when they can expect to get an upgrade.
“I now hope that people will put their details into the system to find when they can expect to benefit from superfast broadband.
“I know that some areas in my constituency won’t be covered by these roll-out plans and I am keen to build up a picture of where those areas are.
“I hope that parish and community leaders will identify if they are not going to be upgraded and I urge them to get in touch with the county council.
“I will be working with Superfast Worcestershire and the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership to build a plan to ensure that as much of the county as possible gets access to a decent speed internet connection.”
