MP Pushes Developer to Improve Malvern Vale Roads

WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin has called on Persimmon Homes to step up their plans to finish the roads and pavements in and around the new Malvern Vale housing estate.

The MP wrote to the developer on behalf of a group of constituents who raised the problem of uneven surfaces with Harriett during a tour of the new estate.

Temporary surfaces are currently in place as work is still carried out including the construction of new flats and a proposed Sainsbury’s store.

But residents have to contend with dangerous pavements and road surfaces which can cause damage to cars and pedestrians. Local people fear that the temporary surfaces could rapidly deteriorate if there is a sudden cold snap or heavy rainfall.

Harriett said: “I have raised this urgent matter with Persimmon Homes and they have promised to act this month and complete the work by Christmas.

“At the moment some of the surfaces are in a shocking state and the pavements are particularly difficult for elderly people and people pushing prams.

“There are currently discussions on-going between the county council, Severn Trent and the developer about the completion of this work but Persimmon have written to me to say it will be completed by the end of the year.

“The Malvern Vale development is a fine addition to area and I look forward to seeing the surfacing work completed within this important deadline. It is good to hear that superfast broadband is now available in the area, and plans are afoot to expand Somers Park Primary School into the area as well.”
