WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin met with one of Tenbury’s oldest residents during a visit to Kyre Day Centre.
Harriett popped in last week (Friday January 9) to help to publicise the centre’s work and to meet with some of the people who use the centre including Marie Higginson, who, aged 96, is one of the town’s oldest residents.
The MP chatted to Marie about her memories of Tenbury with Ria Baxter and Ruth Felce (crct) who help to run the popular day centre.
The centre, based at Tenbury Business Park on the outskirts of the town, has recently undergone a transformation and is running as a not-for-profit company.
Harriett commented: “It was a real highlight to talk to Marie who has lived in the town since she was six months old. She is a great character and very well known to local people.
“I was keen to pop in and thank everyone who helps to keep the day centre running. Tenbury is a beautiful part of the world but it can be very difficult for elderly people to get around and mingle with others.
“The day centre offers a great opportunity to gather together and socialise and I am confident that the local authorities and voluntary bodies will work together to make sure that Tenbury people get to access this important resource.”
