WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin joined with community leaders and local residents in Tenbury to celebrate a community-run bus service.
Tenbury Transport Trust is made up of local volunteer drivers and has been set up to help those without transport get in to Tenbury and Kidderminster and to hospital appointments.
The Trust has also taken over the popular Teme Hopper minibus service and is adding cars to the service.
Harriett was invited to the formal launch event last Friday (July 21) and she congratulated the community for working together to offer this vital service.
Harriett commented: “I want to congratulate everyone involved in the formation of this charity and I am pleased that so many local people are prepared to donate their time to help ensure the future success of this service.
“It was also great to see so many people who use the service attending the launch getting a chance to say thanks to all the drivers.
“We live in a beautiful rural county but this can mean that the elderly and vulnerable are at risk of becoming isolated. Living in the countryside is a great bonus but things that we take for granted, like shopping, can become impossible if you can’t drive.
“There are a number of successful community-driven ventures across the county such as this and I am delighted to join in the celebrations to herald the formation of the Tenbury Transport Trust.”
