WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Dame Harriett Baldwin has urged National Grid to identify and swiftly fix issues causing power cuts in the centre of Great Malvern.
Businesses have reached out to the MP for assistance after a series of power blackouts to properties in Church Street in recent days.
The MP has received a briefing from National Grid confirming that there are issues with an underground cable causing the local sub-station to trip the supply. Urgent work is being carried out to identify the fault and Dame Harriett urged National Grid to work as fast as possible to fix the interruption.
Dame Harriett said: “I am grateful to the traders who have raised this issue and I have reached out to National Grid to understand what the problem is and how they plan to fix it.
“We are in the heart of winter, with long dark nights and this is a terrible development for businesses who are hoping for a busy Christmas trading period.
“I plan to meet with Malvern Hills District Council this week to discuss this matter but strongly hope that the power company will have fixed this issue or at the very least developed a plan for guaranteeing a reliable power supply for central Malvern.”
