MP Calls for Review on Upton’s Boots Staffing Issue

WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin called for a review on pharmacy provision in Upton-upon-Severn following complaints from local people.

Harriett has written to Boots chief executive Sebastian James asking him to look into problems with residents being able to fulfill their prescriptions.

The company has had staffing issues meaning that the branch has been regularly closed or working on reduced opening hours.

Harriett said: “I have had a number of people complain to me about the performance of Boots in Upton and I have asked the chief executive to look into this matter.

“Pharmacies are important local resources and it can be extremely frustrating for people to turn up to get their prescriptions only to discover the store is closed. This is especially difficult because Upton residents are not able to use the Upton surgery dispensing facility and local residents have no other choice about where to collect their prescriptions.

“I’ve looked into local people’s complaints and have agreed to take this matter up at a senior level. The staff who have to deal with customer complaints are doing a fine job under difficult circumstances but I want to make sure that the management is looking at steps to fix this problem.”
