MP Backs NHS Staff After CQC Report

WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin has today offered her support to staff working at Worcestershire Royal Hospital after a report by healthcare watchdogs was released last week.

The report, by the Care Quality Commission, recommended that the NHS Acute Trust, which runs both the main Worcester hospital and the hospitals at Redditch and Kidderminster, get extra help to deal with ongoing issues in delivering care to county patients.

The report does not impact on the popular community hospitals in Tenbury, Malvern and Pershore.

Harriett commented: “I have been in constant dialogue with both local healthcare chiefs but also Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt to see what we can do to help the NHS Acute Trust to improve its performance.

“We are all living longer and that inevitably has an impact on the extra pressures on a hospital that is operating well beyond capacity and I support the efforts of my colleague, Robin Walker MP, to press for funding to alleviate this situation.

“There was some good news in last week’s Autumn Statement with an additional £600million secured for mental health services and billions more funding for the NHS.

“Nevertheless, I am glad to see that the excellent care delivered by hospital staff has been recognised by the CQC report, and I look forward to the Trust receiving the support it needs in the areas where it requires improvement.”
