WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin has this week thanked a QinetiQ employee who has travelled to Liberia to help in the international effort to control the Ebola outbreak.

Paul Shewry, who is based at QinetiQ’s Malvern site, has travelled to West Africa to work with the UN mission to help military resources integrate and work alongside civilian teams and medical experts.

He joined the company in 2013 after serving 30 years in the Regular Army and has been called up as a Reserve to work in Africa for six months.

Harriett commented: “I was delighted to meet Paul in person and thank him for undertaking this extremely important assignment.

“I have always said that Malvern has brilliant brains and this is proof that local people have huge hearts too.”

Paul collected the Silver Reserves Award on behalf of QinetiQ to recognise the company’s support for people who serve in the Reserves.

Miles Adcock, managing director of QinetiQ Malvern added: “At QinetiQ we’re very proud to support our nation’s reservists and reserve forces, together with the valuable contribution they make to our National Security.

“We’re delighted that their commitment has been recognised with this award.”
